Advance Care Planning in Patients with High-Risk Hematologic Malignancies

Team: Laveena Munshi (co-PI), Jenna Spring (co-PI)

Background

Many patients with hematologic malignancy are at high risk of developing critical illness as a consequence of their treatment or disease. Understanding patients’ wishes and preferences in the event of a serious illness is crucial to providing goalconcordant care. However, there are many barriers to optimal advance care planning in this patient population and new approaches are needed.

Objective

To evaluate the feasibility and impact of an advance care planning intervention in high-risk patients with hematologic malignancy.
